Hi all,
As part of The DeBruce Foundation Team, I have the privilege of helping students across the nation pursue their career paths. And, our work is also very personal to me: my daughter’s college experience derailed when she could not envision a career path. She withdrew and focused on her interests, and she used The Foundation’s resources to explore her options. Here’s what this looked like for her:
The Agile Work Profiler showed my daughter a ranking of her Agilities–work skills that exist in every job. Learning that her strongest Agilities align with those featured in the film and media industry, she used the Career Explorer Tools to research careers and their associated tasks, salary, demand, and training. With this information, she narrowed her search to local marketing agencies and used Draw Your Future with Agilities to create a vision board to reach her goal of working in studio production.
I’m thrilled to share that she just graduated and began her new job. We are both happy, excited, and relieved she is on her way. All of the above resources are included in The DeBruce Foundation’s Graduation Toolkit; I encourage all graduates to explore it as they make the next steps in their careers.
Congratulations and wishing you the absolute best, Class of 2023!
Celebrating and equipping the Class of 2023
Congratulations, graduates!
We’re offering a gift to each and every 2023 high school and college graduate in the nation.

Innovating with STEM Learning Ecosystems
Kudos to the STEM Learning Ecosystems Community of Practice for a fantastic 2023 Convening!
Our team was thrilled to be with 500+ leaders from K-12, higher education, business, government, and philanthropy, all present to ideate, innovate, and implement solutions for our future workforce.
Dr. Leigh Anne Taylor Knight moderated a panel on preparing tomorrow’s workforce, featuring panelists from IBM, Rockwell Automation, and TIES. Check out their YouTube channel for recaps of the event.
Offering Micro-Internships statewide
Two years ago, Kansas became the first state to start a Micro-Internship program, offering short, paid professional assignments to students at the state’s 32 community colleges and public, four-year institutions.
We’re proud to be part of this initiative alongside our partners at Kansas Board of Regents, Parker Dewey, Kansas Department of Commerce, and Strada Education Network.
Inventing, building skills, expanding pathways
Shout out to the fantastic teams who made it to Make48 Nationals!
Make48 is an invention challenge featuring makers from across the country tasked with envisioning, developing, and bringing to life a brand-new idea – all within 48 hours.
We love being a part of this experience because each team’s access to a network of mentors, equipment, and knowledge needed for their invention creates a fantastic opportunity to learn and grow their Agilities for careers! Read all about it in The Pitch.
Exploring careers in data visualization
What does a career in data visualization look like?
Students from the Kansas City Art Institute visited The DeBruce Foundation and met with Christopher Laubenthal, Data Design Manager, to explore the career pathways ahead of them.
They discussed different roles in data, how to evaluate job opportunities, and best practices in designing for a philanthropic organization. Cheers to their bright careers ahead!
Exploring Agilities at Remake Learning Days
Shout out to our partner, KC STEM Alliance, for their leadership to make Remake Learning Days KC possible!
Remake Learning Days KC featured 150+ hands-on activities in art, science, technology, outdoor learning, making, and more for Kansas City’s young people and their families.
DeBruce Career Corps member, Kyra, and DeBruce Foundation intern, Anna, helped students identify the Agilities they were practicing and using throughout the activities.
Cheers to having fun while building bright futures!
Graduating senior spotlight
In this month’s blog, get to know Annalia, a DeBruce Career Corps member and recent high school graduate!
She reflects on the ways knowing her Agilities has informed her path, her dreams for the future, how the Graduation Toolkit has helped her, and her advice for all other graduates navigating their next steps.
Congratulations on your accomplishments and thank you for sharing your wisdom, Annalia!
