Hello everyone,

My name is David, I’m a senior in high school, and I recently joined the DeBruce Career Corps. I’m excited about this because, in this role, I’ll get to advise on initiatives that help people find what they want to do and what they want to be in life.

I have experience myself with initiatives like this: Last year, I was a ProX intern at Urban Rangers, and my team was pitching an idea for a new community center. We needed someone to design the layout of the building. So, I downloaded a free blueprint app on the computer and put a design together. I learned as I went, and immediately, I loved it. When I brought my design back to my team, my mentor couldn’t believe what I’d put together. They said to me, “You know, you could make this a career.”

I had such a meaningful experience that I returned again as an intern this summer. And, I’m happy to share that my team’s pitch won the grand prize this year! It was the best feeling.

Because of these experiences, I found my passion. It helped me figure out how I can use my skills and passions in a career, and now I’m on my way to becoming an architect.

Here’s to pursuing our passions and helping others find theirs,

816 Award celebrating the ProX Initiative

This summer, ProX connected 400 high school students to professional experiences, where they gained real world experience, explored career opportunities, and earned $1,250 plus academic credit.

Alongside our ProX partners, we were honored recently to receive the 816 Award from the City of Kansas City, Missouri for helping make our city a great place to be.

We Work for Change

DeBruce Career Corps members played an important role in United WE‘s recent We Work For Change event!

Annalia asked keynote speaker, retired Lieutenant General Nadja West, an important question about how young people can become leaders, and Justine closed the event, inspiring us to keep empowering women.

We were honored to be the youth and young professionals’ sponsor, and we are so proud of this next generation’s participation in expanding career pathways and economic opportunity for all women!
