THE DeBRUCE FOUNDATION LAUNCHES PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGN AROUND FREE CAREER READINESS TOOL

The Agile Work Profiler is a first step to expanding career pathways

KANSAS CITY, MO – The DeBruce Foundation is launching a public awareness campaign to help youth increase self-awareness in order to make more informed career decisions.

The campaign, which features young adults from The DeBruce Foundation Career Corps and leaders from a variety of industries, is designed to drive more people to take the Agile Work Profiler, a ten-minute free online career survey that helps people discover their strengths and work interests. To date, more than 10,000 people have taken the Agile Work Profiler.

“Being self-aware, affirmed and ready to take action is a great first step to being informed career decision-makers,” said Dr. Leigh Anne Taylor Knight, Executive Director and COO of The DeBruce Foundation.

The multi-faceted effort includes a fully digital marketing campaign with elements targeting youth ages 16-24 in Missouri and Kansas through various social media channels, including YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and more.

“Understanding that everybody has skill sets they can apply to work is really helpful.  The Agile Work Profiler does a great job of highlighting this.” said Alex Oleson, a member of The DeBruce Career Corps, who participated in the development of the public awareness campaign and is featured in the online ads.

The campaign, stemming from research conducted by The DeBruce Foundation, indicates there is a tremendous opportunity to impact youth who have yet to decide on a career path or don’t know where to start. Among other things, the research found 88% of youth are confident they will achieve their career goals, yet only 41% of youth know what career they want and that 64% of youth have considered 2 or fewer careers, yet national trends show they will hold an average of 12 different jobs throughout their working life.

The Agile Work Profiler is an online career survey that is free to the public and only takes 10 minutes to complete.  The Agile Work Profiler helps individuals harness the power of self-awareness and achieve deeper insights into their own strengths and interests. It inspires action for their future career pathways. After taking the Agile Work Profiler, individuals can see how their unique skill sets can apply to many different careers.

The Agile Work Profiler is part of a larger theory of change being advanced by The DeBruce Foundation – when one knows their “Agilities” or how strengths and interests connect to work activities, they begin to develop the “Agility Advantage.” This means they are prepared to overcome challenges and navigate the upcoming changes in workplace technologies, job restructuring, and the demise of traditional employment sectors.
