Adult Learners using the Agile Work Profiler
Link copied to clipboard
In the Kansas City metropolitan region, there are approximately 300,000 adults between the ages of 25 and 64 that have started but not yet finished a postsecondary degree. Many challenges contribute to non-completion, including money, lack of knowledge and information regarding education and careers, other responsibilities, and lack of opportunities for support. The KC Degrees program is a Mid-America Regional Council initiative launched in 2016 in partnership with the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation to provide opportunities and support for degree completion and to develop a more talented regional workforce. KC Degrees provides financial and advisory support to adult Reconnectors in the Kansas City region to assist with returning to college, completing their degree, or earning a high-quality certificate. KC Degrees coordinates program services with a Graduate Network of 17 postsecondary educational institutions that have come together to support returning students.
In the Spring of 2018, The DeBruce Foundation agreed to partner with KC Degrees, to provide access to the Agile Work Profiler (AWP) for their year 2 cohort of adult learners and to administer an online survey to collect data on perceptions and outcomes of AWP exposure.
AWP User Survey Respondents, 2018
Of the 121 KC Degrees scholars who completed the AWP in July 2018, 73 responded to the 32-item user survey by the November deadline (60% response rate). Respondents ranged in age from 24 to 69 years old, and 92% of the respondents were female.
In the Spring of 2019, Cohort 3 of the KC Degrees program (196 total) and over 300 high school student scholars participating in the KC Scholars program attended an orientation for the Agile Work Profiler.
The initial round of data collection from KC Degrees provides an early indication of the efficacy of the AWP. As KC Degrees begins work with its third cohort of adult Reconnectors, The DeBruce Foundation plans to link the AWP and its Career Exploration tools more directly to the ongoing support provided by the College Success Navigators.
