Sharrell Howard joined Make48 and The Debruce Foundation in July 2024. She will play a key role as the Educational Experience Strategist, advancing the impact of both organizations within high school and college settings by supporting the refinement, deployment, and support structures of the Make48 Innovation Course. This course is designed to teach the core concepts for success in the Make48 competition environment as well as the Agilities© that individuals need to know to be considered ‘Employment Empowered.’

 

Sharrell holds a BS in Architectural Engineering, an M.Ed, and an MBA. With nearly two decades of experience, she has served as a higher education professor, PLTW Master Teacher, K-12 instructor, and administrator. As an Academy Director, she developed engineering programs that achieved Distinguished and Model status from the National Academy Foundation (NAF). She received the 2015 Lowe’s Pride Award for “STEAM Innovative Teacher of the Year” and was featured in Charlotte’s Pride Magazine’s “Women in STEM” issue. Sharrell authored “The Professional Classroom Playbook” and “The Sustainable Classroom Playbook,” and is dedicated to community service through working with various non-profits. She was instrumental in establishing GOBIG, the first all-girls, STEM-focused K-8 school in Charlotte.

 

Sharrell, her husband, and their three children work together in ministry serving their local community. They enjoy spending quality time together, engaging in STEM projects, and playing board games. Sharrell is dedicated to making a lasting impact in promoting sustainable STEM education for future generations.
