Ramanda Hicks is an Operations and Partnerships Liaison with The DeBruce Foundation. Her focus is on supporting The Foundation’s mission through administrative support, community outreach, and behind-the-scenes logistics for trainings, partnerships, and programming.

Prior to this role, Ramanda served four years at the Hickman Mills C-1 School District on the Executive Leadership Team. She also served as the district’s Board Secretary. In this role, she was selected to present at the Missouri School Boards’ Association and managed the school district’s board elections process.

Ramanda brings professional experience across multiple sectors including education, financial services, hospitality, health care, nonprofit services, and government, and from organizations including Waddell & Reed, United Healthcare, Kauffman School, and DST Systems Inc.

She has volunteered and served throughout the Kansas City community. She is passionate about helping underserved communities, and she currently serves on the Grandview Assistance Program Board. Other service includes the Kansas City Association of Black Journalists (President’s Award), Shear Fellow of the Sue Shear Institute for Women in Public Life, True Light Family Resource Center (Honorary Board Member), and Awesome Ambitions (Advisor).

Ramanda is a poet and published author, as well as the Founder of The Write Peace Writers Workshop. She has a BA in Communication Studies-Journalism from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and an MBA from Saint Leo University in Florida.
