Jake is a Strategic Communications Intern at The DeBruce Foundation and a student at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He is currently a senior in the Honors College, triple majoring in Journalism-Strategic Communication, Sociology, and Public Administration & Policy. He is also enrolled in the Accelerated Master’s program within the J-School. At Mizzou, Jake teaches an introductory journalism course, works as a Resident Advisor, and is a part of several media centered and civic engagement-based organizations. As a proud Kansas City native, Jake is also heavily involved with the KC Scholars program and the KC Ad Club Foundation. Prior to joining The DeBruce Foundation, Jake worked as an intern for the Metropolitan Energy Center’s Clean Cities Coalition program under the U.S. Department of Energy. He has also worked as a Strategic Communications Intern for the University of Missouri Flagship Council. In the future, Jake hopes to continue in the non-profit sector, working to advance communication and advocacy efforts for areas in need – specifically for low access, underrepresented communities. In his free time, Jake loves to travel, read, see live music, and spend time with family.
