Bret Howren

Bret Howren serves as a K-12 Integration Specialist for The DeBruce Foundation, partnering with educators, school districts, and organizations to support adoption and sustained implementation of the Agilities™ resources. Drawing on extensive experience in K-12 education and professional learning, Bret works to build strong partnerships, facilitate meaningful learning experiences, and help educators connect the Foundation’s resources to the needs of their students and communities.

Prior to joining The DeBruce Foundation, Bret spent 27 years in public education, with nearly two decades of that focused on adult professional learning, instructional coaching, and the implementation of new practices and technologies. Throughout his career, he worked with educators, school leaders, and district teams to identify needs, design and facilitate professional learning, support organizational initiatives, and coach individuals and teams as they put new learning into practice. His leadership roles in education included Learning Facilitator, Teaching & Learning Coach, Instructional Technology Coordinator, and Instructional Technology Facilitator. Bret holds both a Master’s Degree in Information Science and Learning Technology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education, with an emphasis in Communication Arts, from the University of Missouri.

Bret brings a collaborative, learner-centered approach to his work and believes that meaningful professional learning extends beyond a single training experience. He is passionate about building relationships, helping others grow in confidence and capability, and supporting organizations as they move from new ideas to meaningful and sustainable practice.
