Strategic Communications Intern

Link copied to clipboard

Gia is a Strategic Communications Intern at The DeBruce Foundation and a student at the University of Missouri. She is currently a junior in the Honors College, studying journalism and constitutional democracy. At Mizzou, Gia has been heavily involved in research as a Discovery Fellows Scholar. In her freshman year, she researched topics on comparative communications law, culminating in a presentation at the 72nd Annual ICA Conference. In her sophomore year, she combined her passion for civil rights and research by exploring the intersectionality between media and the role it has played in perpetuating institutional racism throughout the 20th century. Gia is committed to serving underrepresented and undervalued communities. Prior to joining The DeBruce Foundation, she worked as a strategic communications intern at Resilience Education, a nonprofit organization that provides quality business education to incarcerated individuals. Gia has also had the opportunity to learn and work in traditional journalism: she worked as a production assistant at KOMU-TV, an NBC affiliate Mid-Missouri television station. In her spare time, she loves reading, working out, and exploring new places.
